Year 5 Porpoise class Military Museum Visit

Today we had the pleasure of being involved in a pilot scheme STEM project at the Military Museum.  Our challenge was to design and create three vehicles for different purposes.  We got the chance to look at different military vehicles, evaluating their weight, purpose and speed to help us later when creating our own.  Then we found out about our foot print and how it can change to create less force upon the ground.

We created one vehicle that had to be under 300g, one that had lots of power and could manage rough terrain and the last needed to have a small footprint – small amount of force onto the ground. The children loved this opportunity to use a mix of science and mathematical skills to complete their goals.  A great day had by all.

To finish off our day we looked around the museum, which we all enjoyed.
