Yr5 Planetarium Workshop

On Thursday 1st February 2018 Year 5 had a visit from the planetarium. A giant dome was constructed in the school hall and the year group split into two groups. We entered the dome after removing our shoes and sat inside the darkened dome.
The expert began her talk about our solar system by locating the moon in the sky. She explained that a maned rocket has never traveled further than the distance to the moon. She then changed the display in the planetarium to show stars and asked us to try and spot a planet. She advised us that a planet does not twinkle in the sky.
We were all amazed at the sights we saw in the dome and it was quite a wonder!
