Community Events

We want to celebrate all of the cultures and communities that make Talavera Junior such a vibrant, exciting and progressive place to be so we hold a wide range of events. You can keep up-to-date with our latest news to learn about each event as it happens. However, here is a list of our regular events so that you can get excited!

Please remember that these are not all of our events; your child will take part in even more within the school day. 

Autumn 1: 

Speak Out, Stay Safe: an assembly and workshops led by the NSPCC 

Integrity Week: a series of lessons and activities designed by our PSHE lead on one of our core values

Fijian Day: held as close to Fijian Independence Day as possible, this event welcomes our Fijian community into school for food tasting and learning

Parents V Kids Rugby: our original event to encourage a little healthy competition between parents and their children! 

Autumn 2: 

Anti-Bullying Week: a series of lessons and activities to encourage children to understand their role in creating a kind school culture

Healthy Living Week: a series of lessons and activities designed by our PSHE lead to develop children's knowledge of how to keep their mind and body healthy, including the opportunity to create a healthy meal

Christmas Lunch and Jumper Day: a fundraiser for Save the Children which also celebrates Christmas

Spring 1: 

Resilience Week: a series of lessons and activities designed by our PSHE lead on one of our core values

Nepali Day: this event welcomes our Nepali community into school for food tasting and learning

Spring 2: 

Parents V Kids Football: the chance for either parents or children to redeem themselves! 

Summer 1: 

Purple Up Day: a celebration of all that our service children bring to our community

Parent V Kids Cricket: a final chance for parents and children to win the trophy 

British Values Day: a series of lessons and activities designed by our PSHE lead 

Summer 2: 

Family Camp Out: the chance for you to camp out on our school field, playing a range of games and enjoying a BBQ

Sports Day: we love to welcome you in for a picnic before observing the afternoon's sports

Aspiration Week: a series of lessons and activities designed by our PSHE lead on one of our core values

Camo Day: a celebration of our service families, including a range of great activities led by the army

Cultural Day: our chance to acknowledge that we have an even wider range of cultures in our school! This event is organised and run by year 6 Cultural Ambassadors as the chance to get involved in their school life before moving on to secondary school
