Pupil Premium, Service Premium and Catch up Premium

At Talavera Junior, we are proud to serve a community which itself serves. We are based in the garrison town of Aldershot and work closely with the Army to ensure that our families are able to settle well and that our children can be happy and successful in their new schools.

The Pupil Premium funding and Service Premium funding were introduced in April 2011; they were provided to schools in addition to their main school funding. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are children of service families, children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) within the past 6 years, and an allocation for each pupil who has been ‘Looked After’ (in care) for 6 months or more.

Pupil Premium and Catch-Up Funding

At Talavera, we are committed to ensuring that all of our pupils strive to reach their full potential so we creatively and strategically use Pupil Premium Funds to support this aim. Our priority is to close the gaps in progress to ensure children are achieving excellent standards and meet the high expectations we have for all children. We also endeavour to increase the confidence and resilience of our children that can contribute to their successful progress.

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent; however, schools are to be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding with the expectation for successful impact on children’s achievements. Please read the break down of spending below.

Service Premium

Service Premium funding is allocated to school to ensure that children transition well when moving schools, and pastoral support is available to the children where needed. We passionately believe that every learning minute counts for our service children so we spend our funding on transition, pastoral support and ensuring every child reaches their potential. We use the funding to bridge any gaps from a different curriculum or school. Please read the report to see our break down of spending.
